Golden Gate Bistro started with a dream, 20 years of kitchen experience, and a commitment to doing things right. Chef Victor and Noel Viera built something worth showing up for — and they're still at it.
Victor, Noel, and a Dream
In 2021, Chef Victor Viera — 20 years in professional kitchens, Colombian culinary roots in his bones — and his partner Noel stopped cooking for other people's restaurants and built their own.
Richmond Roots
Our first location opened in Richmond's Marina Bay waterfront district, earning a loyal following through counter-service, outdoor seating, and cooking that made neighbors feel taken care of. That community spirit is still the backbone of everything we do.
A Menu That Won't Sit Still
Colombian-inflected carnitas tacos, house-made pizza, slow-roasted BBQ ribs, clam chowder guests drive across Marin for — Chef Victor's rule is simple: if it's on the menu, it has to be done right.
From Richmond to Novato
In June 2024, we opened on Redwood Boulevard in Novato — a modern dining room, a cozy outdoor patio, and live music nights that turn dinner into an evening. Same standards, same family, just more room at the table.
Fresh Ingredients, Real Commitment
We source locally and cook with ingredients we'd want on our own table. Sustainability isn't a tagline — it's how we were raised to do things.
